Alannah had fever the night before her spica was scheduled to be removed. The following morning, she had advised Mum not to tell the doctors that she has fever so that the procedure goes ahead. Smart kid - theory of deduction.
We spent all day at the hospital for a fifteen minute procedure - and that was at a private hospital. I reckon the hospitals would be more efficient if they apply the Six Sigma principle - companies like GE and Toyota uses it. The one thing the field of medicine need - stat.
She still cannot walk as she is still tender and weak. She has gained enough courage to move around by 'shuffling' her bum on the floor - that is how Marisa describes it. We were advised that three weeks before she can try to start walking again.
Alannah still gets some sort of pain if she awkwardly moves her left leg. She is doing her usual quirky and smart stuff again and got her appetite improving. Today, when Marisa went out for a little while, she asked me for a piece of chocolate cake just before lunch.
Normally, the answer is a no-brainer, but I made an exception for two reasons; first time in a while the two of us alone in the house and I felt like being the 'nice' Dad that does not impose the rules too much. I was in the good books for the last couple of days, you know.
Welcome back.
