"Googling" boxing day yielded this number one result from Wikipedia about Boxing Day, which is pretty interesting. I reckon the day after Christmas should be called R&R for Recovery and Realisation day. Recover from all the consumption and realise the cost.
Anyhow, Christmas is over, and when the calendar turns, people will make promises to themselves, promises that they will better themselves by doing a number of things. These 'promises' are known as resolutions and everyone knows that they are often difficult to keep. The trick to resolutions is to keep them simple and set achievable targets.
Here is my top ten:
10. Be nicer. Offer a seat in the train even though you are sleepy, and the chick is not that hot. Like the beer ad says - chivalry is back.
9. Eat healthier. Maccas is not a power lunch. Less trips to Maccas will count. I think I went 6 times this year.
8. Help more. Around the house or the community or the environment. It's not that you don't do anything.
7. Spend less time on the computer. NB : less time on the computer is not inversely proportional to more time on TV!
6. Smile all the time. It doesn't matter if you are late at work, or the guy next to you in the train smells, smiling is good for you and the next person who sees you. Just get up and go.
5. Give more compliments. You look good reading this blog.
4. Talk is cheap. Voice over IP is cheap too. Expect an email, text or a phone call from me soon just to say hi!
3. James Taylor once said he can take criticisms but not compliments. Well, sometimes I am the opposite. From now on, I will consider all technical security architects are just full of themselves and see number 6. Oops! see number 10.
2. Exercise to a certain extent. I may not get the ab of my dreams but walking is good.
1. Try to stop smothering Alannah with too many kisses. Keyword : try. She is just sooo cute!
